About
Carol Hunter
Spending summers at her aunt’s beach house on the outer banks of North Carolina, Carol developed a deep love of the sea. There she taught herself how to surf and began making ocean influenced art. Jump ahead a few years, Carol has worked in the NC aquarium, graduated from UNC Wilmington’s Marine Biology program, and opened and run a successful home décor boutique. After marrying the love of her life, Jaime, the two sold most everything they owned and traveled the world. Upon returning, being inspired from their travels, the two wanted to create a home décor/furnishings company that incorporated their mutual love of the ocean, superior hand made craftsmanship, and environment friendly and reclaimed materials. Thus, Saltwater Salvage Designs was born.
Jaime Hunter
Born and raised on the saltmarshes of southern North Carolina, Jaime has lived a life revolving around, and in, the sea. He has a passion for all things aquatic and creating things with his hands. While earning his degree in Business from UNC Wilmington he started a landscaping company to fund his surfing/fishing/sailing/freediving/scubadiving addiction. When Jaime decides he needs something, he just makes it. With a nack for combining beauty and function, there’s not a lot he hasn’t built. From remodeling homes to shaping surfboards to building Hawaiian outrigger sailing canoes, Jaime’s done it with style.
